Worst contractor experiences we've ever had. They did not once successfully do a job without major fixes required, & in some cases their resolutions were egregious. Hired for a kitchen remodel. Empty rental, gave them the door code. To run a fridge line, they cut completely through our studs (pictured) & didn't tell us - not only in a load bearing wall, but right next to an 8' wide window, so an especially load bearing point. They said there was no way around that & it wasn't an issue. I hired a structural engineer, & it does matter and it was completely unnecessary. They offered to fix it, I told them I already had studs they could slide in as an acceptable compromise to bring us to code. They instead decided to just nail in some very thin pieces of wood to the side of the end shot stud (pictured), without asking, while claiming that would pass code / there was no other way to fix it. Our drywall guy was flabbergasted and felt so bad he fixed it for free for us using our stud in about 5min. They also decided to leave old kitchen plumbing in place that was now useless yet still filled with water and open to the air, leaving us with a mold/leak risk & wasted space under the sink. We can no longer fix it since it was tiled in. The cabinet installer told us what happened & had us connect them on a call to confirm, he was livid on our behalf. They admitted they had not done any form of diagnosis of where those lines went to, despite that being what they'd been hired to do. We also learned that they had installed the new waterline without bothering to disconnect the old one. Considering the above, I specifically told them I would need to be there or at least be called so I could confirm the job to the tech for next appointment. Not only did they not tell me they came, technically trespassing, but they didn't do what I asked. Luckily I arrived & they were able to adjust that piping fix to not prevent cabinets from being able to be installed. During their return to finish the kitchen, we asked them to set a toilet. The tank had been sitting outside ever since we installed new floor tile. When they brought it back in, they spilled its contents across the bathroom floor. The tank had blue cleaner in it, and it stained the new tile grout (pictured). 3 people had handled the tank before them, including myself alone, & had no issues with spilling, so it wasn't inevitable as they made it seem. They could have emptied it while it was outside, or at least known to be careful with it and that these cleaning products exist. But putting that all aside... Once it spilled and it was clear it was staining, they should have told me right away. I was in the same room, folding clothes in that bedroom. Instead, they deliberated enough to settle on a "fix" of spreading caulk over the tile grout. That is the wrong tool for the job, did not match (white vs off-white, different material altogether) as they claimed, and removing it could have caused more work. They removed it when asked, and before discussing what could be done further, immediately proceeded to tell us how it wasn't their fault. They offered to not charge us for the toilet setting as the solution, and when I expressed concern that we'd literally just gotten grout quotes and knew that the cost would be more than that, they doubled down. They continued to explain it wasn't their fault, said the toilet setting was likely the best they could do, and then claimed that toilet setting costs $350-450 to do when the quote they'd given me for this job was $200. I ended up having to pay for the partial repair myself, spending hours trying to dig out the grout myself and still having some blue remaining behind after the grouter relaid it. They had also replaced a shower faucet as well with a brand new unit. It has been dripping/leaking nonstop since. Theoretically that should be covered by their insurance & I should be able to call them back to fix it, but considering how the other "fixes" have gone... We've opted to just let it drip.

I googled to find a plumber that serviced Hyrum (Cache Valley) and Great Basin came up, so I reached out to them through Google. I was specific on what I needed (a leak under the kitchen sink) and where I was located and I needed it done the next day. I heard back from them by text that they could come out when I requested. Then, on that day, I got a phone call mid-morning that they wanted to send out a restoration person first to see if there was any damage that might be covered under my home insurance. I was a little perturbed that this was something I wasn’t asking for, and I emphasized what the problem was and what appeared to be the cause (loose disposal) and I just needed it fixed ASAP. He assured me they would be out either that same day or the next after the restoration guy came. It took another 5 hours for the restoration guy to come out (he was with a different company). By this time it was nearly 3:30. There was no damage (I already knew that) and so I expected to hear back from Great Basin to schedule my repair. I did not, so I texted them at 5:30 PM asking when they would be out the next day as they said they would be. I never heard back. I called someone else. I’m sure if they had just done the job I asked for instead of trying to chase work for their buddy restoration company, I would have had a better review. Instead, I’m annoyed.

I had a fantastic experience with Great Basin Plumbing! Reese was our technician, and he did an outstanding job installing a new kitchen faucet and toilet, as well as clearing our sink drain. He was professional, efficient, and took the time to explain everything he was doing. You could tell he genuinely cared about doing quality work. The installation was flawless, and our new fixtures work perfectly. The sink drains better than ever! Reese also made sure to clean up after the job, which I really appreciated. If you’re looking for a reliable and skilled plumber, I highly recommend Great Basin Plumbing—especially Reese! Will definitely be using them again in the future!
